Where do I collect my rent?

Our “No Hassle” service allows you to collect your vehicle at the Princess Juliana Airport Parking lot upon arrival. Once you exit arrivals, your vehicle will be parked, tanked, and ready to go.

Cruise ship customers collect their vehicles at the iconic Chesterfields Restaurant parking lot, a 5-minute walk from the harbor.

Where do I return my rental?

Our direct departure drop-off service allows renters to return their vehicles at the Princes Juliana Airport departure, or, at Port St. Maarten. Customers staying at the Belair Beach Hotel in St. Maarten have the option to return their vehicle there, at our main office. We provide a free airport chauffeur service when your vehicle is returned to this location. The benefit of departure drop-off is that it allows you to make last-minute stops.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

There are no cancellation fees applied to online bookings. However, as a courtesy, we request that all cancellations are communicated 48hrs prior to arrival.

What is the Refueling Policy?

The vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel as recorded on your rental contract during the checkout inspection. Failure to refuel will result in a refueling charge.

Are there additional charges?

Additional charges may be processed if the vehicle is not returned with the same amount of fuel registered on the date you collected your vehicle. So, be sure to fuel up your vehicle before your departure.

Can I return my vehicle to an unmanned location?

Yes, vehicles can be returned to unmanned locations, however, this must first be agreed upon and registered on your rental contract. Depending on your drop-off location a fee may be applied. 

Customers should never leave their vehicle unattended with the keys inside the vehicle or with the doors unlocked. Keys must be returned to an authorized Starlite representative.

What is the minimum Rental Period?

We do not have a minimum renting period.  A fixed daily rate is charged based on a 24hr period.

Do you rent automatic vehicles?

All vehicles are equipped with an automatic transmission, power windows, A/C, USB, AUX, and Bluetooth capabilities.

When do I pay for the rental?

During the registration process, a standard pre-authorization hold is placed on your credit card in the form of a security deposit. At the end of the rental period, the card is charged for the actual rental amount.

What is the legal driving age?

The legal driving age in St. Maarten / St. Martin is 18 years old. Our customers must be 21 years or older to rent a vehicle.

What is the legal drinking age?

The legal drinking age in St. Maarten is 18 years. However, drinking and driving is not permitted on the island.

Which currency is used on St. Maarten / St. Martin?

St. Maarten / St. Martin uses 3 currencies. The American US dollar and the Euro is accepted throughout the entire island. The Dutch guilder is only accepted on the Dutch side of the island.

Which credit cards are accepted?

We accept all major credit cards; Visa, Mastercard, Discovery, and American Express.

How much is the rental deposit?

The rental deposit differentiates depending on the vehicle category:

Category 1: $750 (Cars)                 

Category 2: $1200 (Minivans, SUVs, Jeeps, Vans, and Convertibles)

Cash deposits are welcomed; however, credit cards are preferred.

What is NOT covered in the Collision Damage Waiver Insurance?

Customers should review Starlite Car Rental terms and conditions. The following conditions are not covered in Starlites Car Rental Collision Damage Waiver Insurance. These conditions mentioned are included but are not limited to:

  • Any person not in possession of a valid driver’s license, any person under the age of 21 years, and or any person driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
  • Any person participating in illegal races or speeding competitions, any person driving over the accepted speed limit.
  • Any person parked illegally causing their vehicle to be damaged or towed.
  • Persons not registered on the Rental agreement are not authorized to drive the rental and are therefore not covered by the Collision Damage Waiver Insurance under any circumstances.
  • Any vehicle theft or tire theft.
  • Any person under the influence of intoxicants or narcotics.
  • Any person using Starlite Car Rental vehicle to commit illegal acts found in the civil, criminal, administrative, and commercial laws of St. Maarten.
  • Any person that is involved in a collision, or accident or has tampered with the vehicle without reporting the incident. Any person who attempts to repair vehicle damages independently without consulting a Starlite Car Rental representative.
